BEGIN YOUR WELLNESS JOURNEY Day By Day.

Children

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes depending on the child's age and development. After collaboratively deciding the goals and expectations for treatment, typically sessions will be weekly to establish rapport and begin working towards goals. Once progress is being made, sessions may decrease in frequency.

Modalities that incorporate play are powerful and transformative in helping children navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences. Play is a child's natural language and the most authentic way they express themselves. Benefits of services may include:

  • Builds Trust

  • Foster Learning and acceptable behaviors

  • Regulates emotions

  • Reduces anxieties

  • Promotes creative thinking and problem-solving

  • Encourages open and appropriate communication

  • Elevates mood and self-esteem

  • Increase impulse control skills

Teen/Adolescent

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes and recommended to start off weekly and transition to every other week after establishing a comfortable and familiar relationship. A specific focus I make when working with this age group is diving deep into self-worth and internal confidence. With the plethora of external influences, I encourage my clients to identify their own beliefs and values and learn to live a life that aligns those convictions with their actions. Other benefits of therapy may include:

  • Emotion Regulation skills

  • Social skills

  • Enhance self-esteem and confidence

  • Communication skills

  • Increase impulse control skills

  • Processing past experiences

  • Self-awareness

  • Adjusting to transitions

*Parenting sessions are a great option for caregivers interested in discussing strategies for behavior management, emotion regulation support, or understanding developmentally appropriate behavior in their child/teen. As a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy provider, I will provide content and resources, and help brainstorm ways to address your specific concerns. I am passionate about helping caregivers learn about the concept of study leadership.

*Family therapy sessions are incorporated into treatment when necessary for the benefit of the child and family unit. Family therapy sessions provide the opportunity for members of the family to communicate in a controlled and respectful space. The benefits of family therapy can be to resolve conflict, practice healthy communication, create structure and accountability, and discuss boundaries and expectations.

Overview

I strive to create a safe space for individuals by utilizing collaborative and informed approaches. Below is an overview and what to expect and the typical stages/components of the therapeutic process:

1. Assessment: Let’s meet and get started!

  • Initial Contact: The process often begins with an initial contact, whether through a phone call, email, or an online platform. This is an opportunity for you to express your concerns.

  • Intake Session: The first formal session involves an in-depth discussion of background information, current challenges, and goals for therapy. It sets the foundation for a therapeutic relationship and helps identify unique needs.

2. Goal Setting: We will create appropriate goals that will guide our time together.

  • Collaborative Goal Development: Based on the assessment, we collaboratively establish goals and objectives. These goals guide the therapeutic process and provide a framework for progress.

3. Therapeutic Interventions: Over time, we will work toward your goals.

  • Modalities and Skill-Building: My approach is influenced by evidence-based practices and interventions such as Internal Family Systems, Trust Based Relational Intervention, and Play Therapy. I am passionate about utilizing strength-based and person-centered approaches to support you in learning and applying practical skills and coping mechanisms to address your specific concerns. Areas of focus may include, stress management, emotion regulation, navigating challenging situations, feelings of shame/diminished self-worth, and parenting challenges. When building our therapeutic relationship, I will strive to create a compassionate and safe space for you to feel comfortable. It is my mission to build trust and foster vulnerability. Lastly, by welcoming feedback and collaboration we can better meet your specific needs.

4. Reflection, Awareness, and Progress Evaluation: By consistently checking in and re-evaluating, we will ensure that you are satisfied with your progress.

  • Self-Exploration and Awareness: You will be encouraged to reflect on your experiences and explore aspects of yourself that may contribute to presenting challenges. Through this holistic process you will have the opportunity to reflect and embrace your most authentic self.

  • Ongoing Assessment: By adjusting interventions and regular check-ins, we can create an opportunity to celebrate successes and address any setbacks leading to a joint decision for best next steps.

5. Termination and Follow-Up: When wrapping up, you will be on your way, using the skills you’ve learned, and continuing your journey of growth.

  • Transition and Closure: When we determine that your goals have been met or significant progress has been achieved, we work together to plan a healthy termination. This involves summarizing the work done and discussing strategies for maintaining progress.

  • Follow-Up and Aftercare: Some individuals may benefit from occasional follow-up sessions or aftercare to ensure sustained well-being and provide ongoing support.

The therapy process is highly individualized, and the pace of progress varies for each person. It's a collaborative effort that requires commitment from both the therapist and the individual seeking services.
